Nationwide Strike in Myanmar As Anti-coup Campaign Intensifies

In Myanmar, biggest trade unions have begun a widespread strike in the latest attempt to pressure the Army to reverse the February 1 coup.

At least 18 labour organizations representing industries including construction, agriculture and manufacturing has called on workers to stop work to restore Aung San Suu Kyi’s government to power.

Witnesses has told media that troops has fired shots in the air at several places around the country and are checking cars in central Yangon to prevent protesters from gathering.
