Stoltenberg said shortly before presiding over the event that brings together the 28 heads of state and government of the member nations at the headquarters of the organization in Brussels, that such adhesion means ‘a strong political message of unity.’

US President, Donald Trump also present in the NATO summit, and he came to describe this institution as ‘obsolete’ and demanded an increase in investment in defense of its members, as well as greater involvement of the bloc in operations, such as those developed in Syria by the coalition led by the Americans.

It comes on the back of pressure from United States President Donald Trump, who has urged NATO members to do more in the fight against terrorism.
