Navy To Be Equipped With Modern Capabilities : President

Karachi (October 16, 2018): President Arif Alvi on Tuesday has reaffirmed the commitment to provide all necessary resources to enhance the capability of Pakistan Navy and develop the maritime sector according to the modern requirements.

This he stated while addressing the commissioning ceremony of Pakistan Navy Fleet Tanker in Karachi.

The President pointed out that the complete operationalization of China Pakistan Economic Corridor Project and Gwadar port will enhance trade activities manifold.

He said such a development also calls for a strong seaward defense not only for Gwadar but the entire coastal belt. He said the government is cognizant of the need to have a potent Pakistan Navy and commended the efforts of the force for maritime security.Addressing the ceremony, Naval Chief Zafar Mahmood Abbasi said the induction of indigenously built ship is a symbol of pride and landmark achievement which reflects our industrial strength.

Earlier on October 05, President Dr Arif Alvi said that Pakistan’s nuclear program is compliant to the IAEA rules and regulations.

Addressing the International Conference titled ” Global Non-Proliferation Regime: Challenges and Response ” organized by Strategic Studies Institute in Islamabad.

The President said Pakistan’s nuclear deterrence is only meant for strategic balance in the region and it is not part of any nuclear arms race. He said Pakistan is an ardent supporter of nonproliferation and is ready to cooperate with all the concerned world institutions to achieve this end.Dr Arif Alvi said the threats confronting international peace and security can only be dealt with collective international efforts.
