Nawaz, Maryam Leave For Islamabad To Appear Before AC

Islamabad (April 06, 2018): Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif along with his daughter Maryam Nawaz left for Islamabad from his Jati Umra residence to appear before an accountability court in Avenfield Reference today.

Nawaz Sharif will leave for Islamabad via a chartered aircraft from Lahore airport’s old terminal. He left his residence amid strict security.Yesterday, the former premier and his daughter did not appear before the Accountability court, as their flight to Islamabad from Lahore could not take off owing to bad weather.Former Prime Minister along with his daughter had to appear before the court, but they could not make it due to bad weather. Whereas, Judge Muhammad Bashir resumed the hearing of Avenfield Reference.

The Accountability court accepted one day exemption plea of Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz.The counsel of Nawaz Sharif continued cross examining of Wajid Zia. Earlier, the court had directed Zia to approach the Supreme Court for obtaining the JIT report’s volume X.Zia informed Haris that he has not obtained the entire volume X but seven mutual legal assistance requests contained in it.

During the hearing, Haris exchanged heated arguments with NAB Prosecutor Sardar Muzaffar. Moreover, Haris remarked during the cross-examination that Zia has been changing his statements during the deposition.

Zia also informed the court that Quist Solicitors, the law firm hired by the JIT to assist it, first sent its analyses via Whatsapp. He did not disclose to whom the message was sent, on security grounds, despite Haris’ insistence.Earlier, talking to media outside accountability court, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday said that he has not yet discussed the meeting of the prime minister and the chief justice of Pakistan with Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and would inform when he would meet him.
