LAHORE: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has left for London from Lahore airport’s Haj Terminal for medical treatment in an air ambulance.
An intensive care unit and an operation theatre have been set up inside an air ambulance, which arrived from Doha early morning at Lahore airport’s Haj Terminal, while a team of doctors and paramedics are also on board.
Nawaz’s personal physician Dr Adnan Khan and PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif are also travelling with him.
The former premier was seen off by senior PML-N leaders Raja Zafarul Haq, Ahsan Iqbal, Khawaja Asif, Marriyum Aurangzeb and a large number of supporters and workers.
Nawaz Sharif was accompanied to the airport by a large number of supporters as well as party leaders.
The former prime minister’s mother, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and other family members bid farewell to him at the house.
A large number of supporters and workers had gathered outside Jati Umra since morning prior to Nawaz’s departure.
