Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Placed On ECL: Sources

Islamabad(July 10, 2018): Names of Former PM and PML-N Supremo, Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam, who were sentenced to prison in Avenfield properties case last week, have been placed on the Exit Control List (ECL), said sources.

Previously, National Accountability Bureau had written different three letters to interior ministry requesting the names of Nawaz and Maryam to be put on ECL in February, June, and July but to no avail.

The name of former premier and his daughter has been put on ECL following their conviction in the Avenfield reference, sources confirmed. Nawaz, Maryam To Be Moved To Adiala Jail Via HelicopterOn the other hand, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has taken all necessary measures to directly move former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz to Adiala jail via a helicopter from Lahore airport, said sources.      

According to sources, the former premier and his daughter will be moved to Adiyala prison via helicopter, for which director general (DG) of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore has also written a letter to the NAB chief.DG NAB Lahore Shehzad Saleem, through his letter, requested the NAB chairman to provide a helicopter for transferring the two high-profile figures, who were recently sentenced to 11 and eight years respectively in prison in the Avenfield properties case.

The sources said the accountability court judge would also be requested to come to the prison administratively.The letter read that a rally will be held in Lahore on the arrival of the former premier, according to sources, which may create difficulties in arresting the father-daughter duo. The law and order situation in Lahore may also deteriorate because of the rally, it said.The sources further informed that Nawaz and Maryam will be arrested from the airport, adding that the NAB chairman will contact the Ministries of Interior and Defence for providing a helicopter.

Nawaz’s Arrival: Police Devise Security Plan For July 13:

Police have devised foolproof security plan to avoid any untoward incident on the expected arrival of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz at the Allama Iqbal International Airport on July 13.

According to the security plan, Nawaz Sharif’s route will be divided into two parts and above 25,000 police personnel will be deployed on security duty on July 13.

Police officials have declared 24 areas of the city sensitive. Officials of Anti Right Force, police, traffic police, elite force and others will be deployed for security duty on July 13.The officials said that no political activist will be allowed to enter in the airport’s premises and strict measures will be taken against the miscreants.

On the other hand, police have prepared lists of important personalities of PML-N and the activists involved in violence and criminal activities. Police likely to crack down against the miscreant on July 13.

Will Devise Future Strategy After Landing In Lahore: Nawaz Sharif

Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) Supremo Nawaz Sharif on Monday said that they will devise future strategy after landing in Lahore on July 13.

While talking to the journalists, Nawaz Sharif said that there were no signs of improvement in Begum Kulsoom’s health. He asked the nation to pray for the health of Kulsoom Nawaz.

Answering a question about NAB’s preparation for his detention on arrival at Lahore airport,  Nawaz Sharif said that the question should be asked from NAB authorities that why did they hire a helicopter to arrest him.

Last week, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was sentenced to a total of 11 years in prison and slapped a £8 million fine (Rs1.3 billion) in the Avenfield properties reference, while his daughter Maryam was sentenced to eight years with a £2 million fine (Rs335 million).
