ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) will resume hearing plea of former premier Nawaz Sharif today (Thursday) seeking sentence suspension in Al-Azizia reference where his counsel Khawaja Asif will continue the presentation of arguments, AbbTakk News reported.
A two-member bench of the IHC comprising Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kyani and Justice Amir Farooq will resume hearing the plea.
In the last hearing held on Wednesday, Director General (DG) National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Irfan Mangi submitted his apology for the delay despite the notice which was accepted by the court.
In his arguments, Nawaz’s counsel Khawaja Haris has said that the Supreme Court had granted a six weeks bail to the former premier and directed to contact high court upon its expiry.
To which, the court in its remarks told the Nawaz’s counsel that one cannot file another plea after it is rejected by the court. At which Khawaja Haris in his response told the court that the bail petition on medical reasons can be filed again on fresh grounds.
Khwaja Haris in his arguments told that the blood supply of Nawaz’s body is entirely affected as 60 per cent of his vessels are facing blockage. The blood vessels supposed to supply the blood to the brain are affected.
He said that he cannot be fully treated by the doctors here within six weeks.
At which, the court accepted the plea of the former premier to submit additional documents in this regard.
