Nayef as Crown Prince, al-Jubeir as FM take oath in Saudi Arabia

RIYADH: Mohammed bin Nayef, 55, and Adel al-Jubeir have taken oath for their new posts as Crown Prince and Foreign Minister respectively in Saudi Arabia after dismissal of previous Crown Prince Muqrin bin Abdul Aziz bin Saud and longest-ever serving foreign minister Prince Saud al-Faisal.

Salman bin Abdulaziz made massive changes in Saudi government, as Adel al-Juberi has appointed as Saudi Ambassador to the US, after illness of Ex-Foreign Minister, Faisal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud who was holding Foreign Minister post since 40 years.

A royal decree removed Crown Prince Muqrin bin Abdul Aziz bin Saud as next in line to the throne and replaced him with King’s nephew Prince Mohammed bin Nayef, 55, who headed a crackdown on al-Qaeda in the country a decade ago and Mohammad bin Salman as deputy crown.

During the reshuffle, Faisal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud will perform duties as supervisor of foreign affairs and Hamad al-Sweillam as the new chief of Royal court.
