Nepra Cuts Power Tariff by Rs1.90/Unit

Islamabad (June 20, 2017): The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) on Tuesday cut power tariff by Rs 1.90/unit.

As per details, the tariff has been cut under Fuel Adjustment mechanism for the month of May 2017.

The relief will be passed on to the power consumers in electricity bills of June 2017.

Under the fuel adjustment head, an overall Rs19 billion relief will be extended to the electricity consumers.

The cut will be applicable on the tariff of all distribution companies.

Chairman Nepra says that the report of probe into power breakdown and load shedding in Karachi was not yet given to the Authority.

He added that media would be briefed and apprised about the detail within week after the report was received.

He informed that the authority was also preparing report about power supply in Hesco and Pesco.

The chairman said that Ministry of Water and Power should provide gas on priority basis to efficient plants to cut the cost of power generation and subsequent cut in power tariff.
