Nepra Cuts Power Tariff by Rs 1.96/Unit

Islamabad (May 25, 2017): National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) on Thursday cut electricity tariff by Rs 1.96 per unit.

As per details, the power regulator has slashed the tariff under fuel adjustment mechanism for the month of April.

The relief being provided to the electricity consumers will amount to Rs1.5 billion.

The impact of the cut will be passed on to consumers in May’s bills. The cut will be applicable on all distribution companies except of K-Electric.

The tariff cut will not apply to lifeline consumers using less than 50 units per month.

Pakistan is currently facing acute power shortage which has crippling effect on economy and industries. The government is working on war footing to install new power generation plants to produce more power to overcome power crisis and is also expanding the energy mix by scudding energy sources which are comparatively cheaper.
