New Judicial Year Begins with Ceremony at SC

Islamabad  (September 11, 2017): The New Judicial Year began on Monday as a ceremony was held at Supreme Court to mark the start of the year.

Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, Attorney General for Pakistan Ashtar Ausaf , Vice Chairman Pakistan Bar Council addressed the ceremony.

Addressing the ceremony, the CJP said that judiciary dispensed justice as per the constitution and law.

Justice Nisar has proposed that procedural laws and the Court management process should be made simpler.

He said a number of measures have been taken to address the issue of backlog of cases.The Chief Justice said proposed cause lists are issued in advance, and the process of filing of applications for early hearing has been simplified.

The Chief Justice said that the judicial system depends on the symbiotic relationship between bench and bar and a strong relationship built on mutual trust and respect.

AGP while addressing the ceremony said that constitution had provide dichotomy of powers between judiciary, executive and legislature.Vice Chairman PCB Ahsan Bhoan said that the case of former Chief Justice a question mark on judiciary.

Judges of the Supreme Court Law Officers of the Federation and provinces and a large number of lawyers attended the ceremony.  This ceremony is held annually on the opening of the New Judicial Year of the Supreme Court.
