New Punjab Information Minister To Take Oath Today

LAHORE: Syed Samsam Ali Shah Bukhari will be taking oath today (Wednesday) as newly nominated provincial minister of Punjab for Information and culture after Fayyaz Ul Hasan tendered his resignation to Chief Minister Punjab for his insulting remarks on Hindu community.

The oath-taking ceremony for the newly nominated minister will take place at Governor house Punjab. Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar will administer the oath to Samsam Shah Bukhari.

Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar and other provincial ministers will be in attendance at the oath-taking ceremony.

On Tuesday, Fayyaz Chohan resigned as Punjab’s Information minister after Chief Minister summoned Chohan for an explanation following his derogatory remarks.

Fayyaz’s provocative comments during an address at a ceremony caused a heated argument on social media in which many people suggested the PTI government to take notice of these derogatory remarks.

Prime Minister Imran Khan’s special assistant Naeem ul Haq took it to Twitter to express his views on the controversial remarks of his fellow Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) member.

He tweeted, “The derogatory and insulting remarks against the Hindu community by Fayyaz Chohan the Punjab Info Minister demand strict action. PTI govt will not tolerate this nonsense from a senior member of the govt or from anyone. Action will be taken after consulting the Chief Minister.”

He was followed by Human Rights’ minister Shireen Mazari as she ‘absolutely condemned’ it.
