New Zealand beat Pakistan by 8 wickets in Christchurch Test

CHRISTCHURCH: New Zealand beaten Pakistan by 8 wickets in the first Test at Hagley Oval today.

New Zealand was needed 105 runs as Pakistan all out at 171 runs in the second innings. New Zealand achieved the target after lunch on the fourth day with debutant Jeet Raval finishing on 36 not out.

In first innings, the green shirts had been bowled out at 133 runs while skipper Misbah was top scorer with scoring 31 runs. While Sami Aslam scored 22 runs.

New Zealand could not show extra ordinary performance in first innings after limiting the host team on 133 runs and bowled out at 200 runs. The Kiwi’s team took 67 runs lead against Pakistan after the first inning.

Pakistan batsmen lost all the fruits that were earned by bowlers as the whole team went to pavilion on 171 runs. From the Kiwi’s site, skipper Williamson scored 61 runs and Raval made 36 runs not out in the second inning. While Pakistan’s Muhammad Amir and Azhar Ali took one wicket each.

New Zealand’s Colin de Grandhomme was awarded with ‘Man of the Match.’ He had destroyed Pakistan’s bating line by taking six wickets for only 41 runs in the first innings. Grandhomme scored 29 runs on 37 balls in the first innings.
