BERLIN: At least nine people were killed and over 50 injured as a truck ploughed into a crowded Christmas market in the German capital Berlin on Monday evening.
Local police indicated the incident is likely to be a terror attack on the market at Breitscheidplatz Square, area of Berlin.
The truck ran into the market at what would have been one of the most crowded times for the Christmas market, when people would be gathering in the traditional cluster of wooden huts that sell food and Christmas goods. The driver managed to flee from the scene.
Police and rescue teams shifted the bodies and the injured to the hospital.
