No deadline given for polio-free Pakistan: Spokesperson

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) House on Thursday denied that Nawaz Sharif gave a six-month deadline to make Pakistan polio-free.
According to PM house’s spokesman, premier Nawaz Sharif didn’t  give the six-month deadline to eradicate polio as reported by media during a high-level meeting of the Steering Committee for the Eradication of Polio at the PM Office yesterday.
Instead, the spokesman said, the prime minister ordered that during the November-April, which is considered as a lean period for polio, concerted efforts should be made to control and eradicate the disease.
PM Sharif had said that Pakistan was committed to eradicate the deadly polio virus and would fulfill all its international obligations in this regard.
