No Legal Ground for NAB Reference Against Dar: Sanaullah

Lahore (September 27, 2017): Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah has dubbed the charges against Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in National Accountability Bureau reference as a ‘joke’.

Talking to media here, the minister criticized the accountability process against Sharif family.

Rana said that there was no legal or reasonable grounds of the reference filed against Dar by the NAB in the accountability court.

Justifying the increase in assets of Dar, he said that the finance minister had received salaries from private and multinational companies worth millions of rupees.

The minister also criticized the constitution of JIT to probe Sharif family’s business dealings by the SC, saying that the apex court had never formed a Joint Investigation Team in its history against anyone.It is to be mentioned here that Ishaq Dar was indicted on Wednesday by an accountability court in Islamabad in corruption reference against him. Dar pleaded non-guilty and opted to contest the charges.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) submitted a list of 28 witnesses as prosecution witnesses.The corruption reference, pertaining to Dar’s owning assets that are disproportionate to his known sources of income, was filed by the National Accountability Bureau in light of the Supreme Court’s July 28 judgment in the Panama Papers case.
