‘No One Is Above the Law,’ Says PM Imran Regarding Reference Against Judges

ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan informing media about the post-cabinet meeting said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has dismissed the criticism over the references filed against judges, saying “no one is above the law”.

The federal cabinet meeting discussed 12-point agenda chaired by prime minister Imran Khan. Law minister Farogh Naseem briefed the cabinet about the references sent to supreme judicial council against the Supreme Court judges.

During the meeting, PM Imran said that there is no one above the law, adding the government will continue to pursue uniform justice for all.

Firdous Ashiq Awan further said that cabinet meeting has decided to give Shahryar Afridi an additional charge of Anti-Narcotics ministry.

She said that the premier expressed displeasure over State Minister for climate change Zartaj Gul for writing a letter to NACTA for the appointment of her sister as director. The PM also instructed all federal ministers to avoid misuse of power.

During the meeting, the premier instructed the power ministry to avoid load shedding during the Eidul Fitr across the country.

The federal cabinet meeting also approved to grant 40 percent of additional Hajj quota to private Hajj operators.

The meeting also approved to designate Atiq Ahmed as secretary of federal education board and appointed Raja Jawad as Judge of anti-terrorism court Islamabad.
