No Threat to Pakistan Coast from Cyclone Maha: PMD

KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Tuesday said cyclonic storm ‘Maha’ is 675 kilometers away from Karachi but it poses no threat to its coast.

 Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz said the storm was “likely to track further west/northwestwards during [the] next 24 hours and then recurve in east-northeast direction towards Indian Gujarat.”

The coastal belt of Karachi is expected to receive light rainfall under the influence of Cyclone Maha, the advisory said.

According to the met office, currently, there is no threat to Pakistan coastal areas, however, fishermen are advised not to venture in deep-sea till 06 Nov.
