Nobody Can Stop Us From Construction of Dams: CJP

London (November 23, 2018): Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar while addressing a ceremony in London said that nobody can stop Pakistan from the construction of dams.

Addressing a ceremony in connection with fundraising of Diamer-Bhasha dam, CJ Nisar warned all those elements who are against the construction of new dams and say that they won’t allow constructing new water reservoirs.

Chief Justice said: “No one can stop building new dams,” adding that no one should even think that they can halt the construction.

Justice Saqib Nisar said that we will construct as many dams as we wish. He added that Pakistan is a sovereign state and sovereignty is not less than any blessing.

Further, he said, “I do not possess any political agendas, I will work for human well-being after retirement”.

He further asserted: “Will not let new generation be deprived of lives because of water scarcity.”

Addressing the fundraising campaign in London, CJ Nisar said that the unresolved water crisis will force the people to migrate from Quetta if not provided proper heed.The fundraising ceremony was arranged by lawyers, some charity organizations and overseas Pakistanis in London. A large number of Pakistan living abroad attended the event.

Earlier yesterday, during his visit to the British Parliament, Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar highlighted corruption as one of the major problems of Pakistan.He made these views while talking to Pakistani origin British parliamentarians during his visit to British parliament where he visited various parts of the parliament building.

“Corruption has engulfed the country and the present laws are not helping to root the menace, therefore, there is need of the update the law to overcome cancer of the society,  he said. Commenting over the constructions of dams, he said that Kala Bagh dam has become the most controversial but the dams on which nation has consensus should be constructed.

“There is a need of huge money to construct Diamir-Bhasha Dam and for the purpose, overseas Pakistanis have donated a lot and really thankful for their patriotism,” he said.

Chief Justice mentioned that he did not want to criticize the state institutions, however, he had seen a hospital where three out of five ventilators were malfunctioned.
