North And South Korea To Hold Military Talks on 31 July

Web Desk(July 27, 2018): North and South Koreas have agreed to hold military talks on Tuesday.

South Korea Defense Ministry says both the sides seek to defuse tensions so general-level military talks would take place at the border village of Panmunjom within the demilitarised zone separating the two Koreas. United States has welcomed North Korea’s move over the transfer of the remains of missing US soldiers in 1950-53 Korean-war.

In a tweet, US President Donald Trump thanked North Korea leader Kim Jong Un as a first step in implementing an agreement reached in a landmark summit in Singapore. In a statement, White House also encouraged North Korea’s actions and momentum for a positive change. However, a formal repatriation ceremony would be held at Osan on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, South Korea has welcomed the return of remains, calling it meaningful progress that could contribute to fostering trust between Pyongyang and Washington.
