SEOUL (May 14, 2017): North Korea test fired a ballistic missile from the northwestern part of the country in the wee hours of Sunday, said South Korean Joints Chief of Staff.

South Korean Joints Chief of Staff said in a statement, “Our military is closely monitoring for provocative movements by North Korea and is maintaining all readiness postures.”

The missile launched near the city of Kusong, flew 700 kilometers, the South Korean military said. A US defense official also confirmed the missile test and said that they were assessing what type of missile it was.
