CHRISTCHURCH: The primary suspect, Brenton Harrison Tarrant in the mass shooting at a mosque in New Zealand’s Christchurch was remanded without plea until his next appearance in the High Court on April 5.
Tarrant appeared before a New Zealand district court judge, charged with murder. His hands were handcuffed and he was wearing white prison attire.
Twenty-eight-year-old former Australian fitness instructor, who is the main suspect in New Zealand mass shootings, sat impassively as the judge read the charge against him.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said Saturday the victims were from across the Muslim world, with Turkey, Bangladesh, Indonesia and Malaysia among the countries rendering consular assistance.
