ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) on Friday recommended a surge in gas prices by up to 47percent.

According to details, the OGRA has recommended an increase of 47pc hike in gas prices for the next fiscal year and a summary has been forwarded to the government in this regard.

The Sui Northern Gas Company Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) had suggested a rise in gas prices by 144pc and 30pc respectively.

In view of the petitions, Ogra determined a 47pc increase for the consumers of SNGPL and 28pc for those of SSGCL.

It must be noted that Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa fall in the domain of SNGPL, Sindh and Balochistan come under SSGCL.
