OIC Should Play Leadership Role In Solving Kashmir Dispute: FO

Islamabad: Foreign Office spokesperson Aisha Farooqui on Thursday said that Pakistan point of view on Kashmir has not been changed while political map was the need of the hour while Pakistan wanted leadership role from the OIC on Kashmir issue.

During the weekly news briefing, the spokesperson said that Pakistan has recontacted Indian government over matter of appointing legal representative for spy and agent of intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) Kulbhushan Jadhav.

The spokesperson said that the move came under the light of Islamabad High Court (IHC) directives. We are waiting for the response of Indian authorities on this matter, she told.

Foreign Office spokesperson Aisha Farooqui said first consular access under the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations 1963 was earlier provided by Pakistan on second September last year. She said the mother and wife of commander Jadhav were also allowed to meet him on December 25, 2017.

Aisha Farooqui said two consular officers of the Indian High Commission in Islamabad were provided unimpeded and uninterrupted consular access to Commander Jadhav.

She said that Pakistan wanted resolution of Kashmir dispute as per the United Nations resolution on Kashmir and Pakistan has lots of expectation from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

Aisha Farooqui thanked members of United Nation Security council specially China over a debate on Kashmir yesterday in which 14 out of 15 members participated in the debate.

She said that Pakistan determined to respond any attack from Afghanistan while she informed that a Pakistani child was killed in the Beirut attack while his family members are seriously injured the attack.
