One killed After Russian Plane Makes Emergency Landing

MOSCOW: At least one person died and five others sustained injuries when a Russian Aeroflot Sukhoi Superjet plane made an emergency landing at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport on Sunday due to fire on board.

“One person was killed and five others are said to have been injured, with the plane reportedly carrying 78 people,” said Russian news agency.

A Russian state media further stated that “The plane, a one-year-old Sukhoi Superjet, departed from Sheremetyevo for Murmansk but shortly after taking off requested an emergency landing due to fire.”

An investigation has been opened into the incident, reports say.
