One killed, three injured in Atlanta transit train shooting

ATLANTA: A man opened fire aboard a moving Atlanta metro train on Thursday, killing one man and wounding three other passengers before the suspected gunman was arrested at the next station, according to police with the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA).

The three wounded victims have been transported to a hospital. Officials said the suspect and victims are all adults in their 30s. The shooting occurred about 4:30 p.m. near the West Lake MARTA station, west of downtown.

“Due to a Police action the Wst End Stn is close, there is no train or bus service at the station. A bus bridge is providing service,” MARTA tweeted.

Witnesses said that the shooter appeared to open fire randomly at the train passengers. Police arrested the suspected gunman at the next station and recovered the weapon from his possession. Motive behind the shooting is yet to be find out.
