ISLAMABAD: Following a briefing by military officials, opposition parties have agreed on revival of military courts.
A meeting of parliamentary parties’ leaders was held over the issue of military courts with Speaker National Assembly in the chair.
In the meeting, officials of ISI, MI and Judge Advocate General Branch of the Pakistan Army briefed the participants about the performance of military courts and other related issues.
Talking to media after the meeting, Ayaz Sadiq said that all the participants were on same page on the issue of national importance. He added that military officials had briefed today’s meeting, adding that to finalize the matter another meeting would be held on Feb 16, 2017.
In their media talks, PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi, AML chief Sheikh Rashid and other said that their reservations were addressed largely in today’s meeting, saying that the matter was moving in right direction.
They added that Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and heads of two government allies JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and PkMAP chief Mehmood Khan Achakzai did not attend today meeting.
They added the Law Minister and Finance Minister had accepted their failures during the meeting.
