ISLAMABAD: National Assembly (NA) on Thursday rejected opposition cut motions and demands of grants with the majority of votes.
The NA budget session was held in Chair of Speaker Asad Qaiser while initiating the budget Opposition leader Shahbaz Sharif once again used word selected for Prime Minister Imran Khan, however, the word was removed on the Speaker instructions from the record.
Shahbaz Sharif said that “if you are not allowing using word selected then I use word picked up for the PM.”
The government benches protested against the Opposition remarks.
Minister for State for Revenue, Hammad Azhar said that the country could not be run through the benami accounts and TT and asked the Opposition leader where they spent an amount of Rs 10 billion in his government.
The debate was conducted on the cut motions and demands of grants of opposition in the session while the Speaker rejected the cut motions and demands with the majority of votes, while 143 members supported the cut off motions whereas 169 voted against it.
The session approved the defence budget unanimously as an amount of 11. 53 trillion has been allocated for the defence budget while all the demands of grants regarding defence budget have been approved.
The opposition resorted to sloganeering when the PM departed the NA session while the Premier left the assembly room watching the opposition members chanting slogans.
