ISLAMABAD: The joint opposition on Wednesday decided to move no-confidence motion against Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser.
According to sources, the decision was taken after important consultations at a meeting of joint opposition leaders.
The opposition leaders while rejecting the NA speaker’s decision barring seven Members of National Assembly from entering the parliament over ‘grossly disorderly’ conduct demanded the formation of a parliamentary committee with equal representation of the government and the opposition.
The joint opposition also agreed to form a committee to bring in a no-confidence motion against Asad Qaiser. The committee will be tasked to move no-trust motion against Speaker NA.
The opposition leaders said that yesterday was the darkest day in the history of democracy, adding that the speaker has completely failed in his constitutional, legal, democratic and parliamentary responsibilities.
The opposition leaders said that the Speaker is the guardian of every member of the House but Asad Qaiser is not qualified to perform this duty.
On Tuesday, govt and opposition lawmakers had almost come to blows during Shahbaz Sharif s speech and hurled objects at each other following loud jeers, slogans and whistles.
