Pak, Afghan Leaders Urge Taliban To Utilise New, Timely Peace Offer

Kabul (March 18, 2018): Pakistan’s National Security Adviser (NSA) Lt Gen (retd) Nasser Janjua met Afghanistan’s Chief Executive Dr Abdullah Abdullah during his visit to the neighbouring country.

Janjua was visiting Kabul on a one-day trip on the invitation of his Afghan counterpart, Haneef Atmar.

In the meeting, details of which were shared by Abdullah on his Twitter account, the two agreed that the Taliban should utilise the new and timely peace offer made by Kabul.

Inter-state dialogues for improvement of relations between the two countries were also part of the meeting.

The National Security Adviser General Retd Nasir Janjua on Saturday met the Afghan President Ashraf Ghani in Kabul.

The Afghan president welcomed the NSA in his presidential palace in Kabul and also extended invitation to the Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to visit the country.

A post from Ghani on Twitter after meeting the Pakistani NSA said that the meeting is aimed at initiating state to state comprehensive dialogue.

On Saturday morning, the NSA Nasser Khan Janjua left for Kabul today on a day long visit to the war-torn country. He would also hold talks with Afghan counterpart Haneef Atmar on bilateral relations and regional security issues.

He is visiting Afghanistan on a special invitation of the Afghan National Security Adviser.

During his visit, Nasser Khan Janjua will also meet Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah  and NDS Chief.

Both sides will work together and chalk out a way forward to improve bilateral relations and enhance cooperation particularly with reference to the peace initiative undertaken by the President of Afghanistan.
