ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Wednesday stated that tensions between Pakistan and India seem to be cooling down in recent times.
Shah Mehmood addressed the National Conference on Pakistan-China Economic Cooperation: Next Level which was organized by China-Pakistan Study Centre at the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad, in Islamabad.
In his address, the foreign minister maintained that recent stress between Pakistan and India is reducing which is a positive development.
He lauded Prime Minister Imran Khan’s ‘leader-like’ character after Pulwama attack in India. He added that China played a positive role after tensions escalated between Pakistan and India owing to Pulwama attack which claimed lives of 44 Indian troops.
Talking to media representatives after the conference concluded, Qureshi termed United States role in de-escalating tension in sub-continent ‘pivotal diplomatic’.
He thanked US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo for playing an active role in de-escalating tension between Pakistan and India.
“Foreign ministers of China, Russia, Turkey, UAE and Jordan also played a significant role in reducing tension between the two countries”, said Shah Mehmood Qureshi.
