Islamabad(April 26, 2018): Relations between Pakistan and Russia in defence and economic sectors are improving gradually, says Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif.
Talking to a private news channel, he said that besides other sectors, Russia is also showing keen interest in energy projects.
The Foreign Minister said promoting ties with Russia, China and Turkey are in the best interest of Pakistan.Khawaja Asif said discussions are also underway with Russia regarding cooperation in war against terrorism.
To a question, he said enhancing relations with Russia is an important part of our foreign policy.
On Wednesday, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa met at General Gerasimov at the Defence Ministry premises in Moscow, on the second day of the former’s visit to Russia.
The Russian chief of general staff said Russia was willing to play a role in Pakistan’s efforts towards reconciliation and peace in Afghanistan, according to the military’s media wing. General Grasimov appreciated Pakistan’s achievements in the war against terror.During the meeting, on General Bajwa’s second day of his visit to Russia, matters related to regional security, stability, and bilateral security cooperation were discussed.
General Bajwa told the Russian chief of general staff that Pakistan welcomes any initiative that can bring peace and stability in Afghanistan, adding that the entire region will benefit from such efforts, said a statement issued by ISPR.
