Pakistan a staunch believer in unity of Muslim Ummah: PM

Riyadh (May 22, 2017): Pakistan staunchly believes in the unity of the Muslim Ummah, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said while talking to King Salman bin Abdul Aziz of Saudi Arabia, American President Donald Trump, and heads of the Arab and Muslim countries on the sidelines of the US-Arab Islamic summit here.

Pakistan had a deep commitment to the unity of Muslim Ummah and to the promotion of interfaith harmony and dialogue, the prime minister added.

Being the frontline state, the prime minister continued, Pakistan has rendered immense and heavy sacrifices in the global fight against terrorism. The rising tide of terrorism and extremism is the most daunting challenge that the world confronts today. The turnaround in Pakistan both on the security and economic fronts, with the last year witnessing the lowest number of terrorist attacks in a decade, could bring about the desired results in countries afflicted with the scourge of terrorism, the prime minister said.

The prime minister appreciated the leadership of President Trump to make this Summit as his first overseas engagement. The Prime Minister also exchanged views with many other leaders including the Emir of Qatar, King of Bahrain, Presidents of Tajikistan and Azerbaijan and Prime Minister of Malaysia.
