ISLAMABAD: An international organisation, Emerging Markets, has declared Pakistan the best infrastructure development country of South Asia.
Emerging Markets is a World Bank and International Monetary Fund’s research and publishing organisation.
According to a press release of Planning Commission, the ceremony to present the award was held last night in Washington. Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal was invited at the ceremony to receive the award, however, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States Jalil Abbas Jilani received the award on behalf the Minister.
Pakistan was awarded by the Emerging Markets for launching various mega projects, including China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, Liquefied Natural Gas Pipeline, Lahore to Karachi railway line, power generation plants and industrial zones .
The organization has also described Pakistan as an attractive country for investment in energy and transport projects under infrastructure development.
