Pakistan Begin Training Camp for Sri Lanka Series

LAHORE: Training camp of Pakistan Cricket Team for upcoming ODI and T-20 series against Sri Lanka has commenced at the National Academy Lahore from Wednesday.

The training camp, which includes 20 players, is being supervised by the head coach and chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq.

The camp is being set-up to prepare the side for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka, which will be held from 27 September to 9 October.

Misbah will announce the two squads in Lahore on 21 September.  The ODI side will move to Karachi on 24 September, where the first ODI will be played on 27 September.

Earlier, Misbah-ul-Haq named the 20 probables for the training camp.

Sarfaraz Ahmed has been retained as captain for the series while Babar Azam has been named as vice-captain.

The opening batsman Ahmed Shehzad and hard-hitter Umar Akmal have also been included among the probables for the upcoming limited-overs home series against Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik have not been included in the probables as they have been granted NOC until 12 October to participate in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

Both the batsmen have been out of favour with the previous national selection committee and the team management and were not considered for the World Cup earlier this year.

Pakistan is due to play three ODIs from September 27 in Karachi and three T20 internationals against Sri Lanka in Lahore until October 9.

The tour is yet to be confirmed as the Sri Lankans, including Lasith Malinga, have expressed security concerns.
