Pakistan Condemns Attack Over Military Parade In Iran

Islamabad (September 23, 2018): Pakistan has strongly condemned a terrorist attack on the military parade in Ahvaz province of Iran in which several lives were reportedly lost.

“Our deepest condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones in this heinous attack. Pakistan condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations,” said the Foreign Office spokesperson in statement.Iran Parade Attack: Death Toll Jumps To 29The death toll of Military Parade attack in southwestern Iran on Saturday has jumped to  29, while 53 are wounded.

According to of the official IRNA news agency reported, two gunmen opened fire on the large crowd of spectators watching the parade in the city of Ahvaz and then attempted to attack the viewing stand for official dignitaries before being shot and wounded by security forces, the semi-official Fars news agency said.

“The number of dead of the terrorist incident reached 24, some of whom were women and children among the spectators,” IRNA said, adding that the death toll could rise further as many of the wounded were in critical condition.

Earlier, Iranian media reported that at least 10 including members of the Revolutionary Guards, a child and a Journalist were killed and several injured by gunmen, who attacked a military parade in the oil city of Ahvaz on Saturday.

Initial Iranian reports described five gunmen who sprang out from behind the saluting stand in Ahvaz.

According to later reports, the terrorists clad in Iranian army uniforms rode in on motorbikes and sprayed the marching Guardsmen along the parade before escaping.

“It has been reported that four or five of the elements of the terrorist incident were killed by security and law enforcement forces,” Press TV quoted state-run IRNA news agency as saying.Iran was holding a number of parades in cities including the capital Tehran and the port of Bandar Abbas on the Gulf to mark the start of the country’s 1980-88 war with Iraq.
