Pakistan Condemns Colombo Explosions

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan condemns the explosions and terrorist attacks that took place at hotel and churches in Colombo, said Foreign Office spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal.

In a Twitter message, the Foreign Office spokesperson, expressing grief on the loss of innocent lives, affirmed the support of Pakistan’s government and its public with Sri Lanka in such tough times.

“Pakistan condemns explosions and terrorist attacks in Sri Lanka at Churches & Hotels, that have led to numerous casualties and immense loss. People and Government of Pakistan stand by people and Government of Sri Lanka at this moment of tragedy and against terror”, he tweeted.

Multiple casualties and injuries were reported after six bomb blasts rocked Srilanka’s capital Colombo on the morning of Easter Sunday, according to Sri Lankan media.

Six simultaneous blasts explosions took place at three churches and three big hotels, police said.

The first explosion took place at St Anthony’s Church and second at St. Sebastian’s Church, whereas Shangri-La Hotel, Cinnamon Grand Hotel and Kingsbury Hotel are among the hotels which were also subjected to explosions in the capital.

The bombs went off when both locals and foreign tourists were busy in festivities of Easter.
