Islamabad (August 2, 2017): Pakistan has strongly condemned terrorist attack at a mosque in Herat which resulted in the loss of precious lives.
In a statement issued here spokesman Foreign Office reiterated Pakistan’s unequivocal condemnation of terrorism in all forms and manifestations. He said eliminating the scourge of terrorism requires cooperation among states.
At least 30 people have been killed in an explosion at a Shia mosque in the Afghan province of Herat, according to local sources. According to preliminary reports, two terrorists were involved in the attack, while one of them wearing a suicide vest, who detonated himself while the second one was armed with a rifle. Both the attackers killed themselves.
A hospital spokesperson said that many were injured in the explosion. Taliban spokesman Qari Yousaf Ahmadi has denied responsibility for the deadly attack. The explosion at the mosque comes a day after an attack on the Iraqi embassy in Kabul, which was claimed by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, killed two people.
