ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and European Union have agreed to a new Strategic Engagement Plan to build a strong partnership, as per the Joint Statement issued on Monday by both Pakistan and EU.
The development made at the fourth round of Strategic Dialogue between Pakistan and the European Union in Islamabad.
Pakistani delegation led by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi while the EU by its Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini.
As per the statement, both sides discussed mutual cooperation, matters of mutual understanding, national, international challenges and situation of Afghanistan.
According to a statement, Shah Mahmood Qureshi apprised the EU delegation about the steps taken by Pakistan to fulfil FATF commitments as well as the steps taken to cleanse the tribal belt.
The new Strategic Partnership Plan will lay a strong foundation between Pakistan and the European Union and will further boost their future cooperation.
The EU high representative also appreciated Pakistan’s efforts for peace and stability in Afghanistan.
Both sides agreed to work together in many fields.
Mogherini appreciated Pakistan’s stance on de-escalating tension with India and crackdown of the Pakistani security forces against the terrorists.
