Pakistan HC Meets Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj

New Delhi (October 21, 2017): Pakistan High Commissioner to India Sohail Mahmood has met Indian Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj and discussed the current state of affairs in bilateral relations.

According to Indian media, the newly-appointed high commissioner Mahmood, who took charge last month, met the Minister this week.

Mahmood and Swaraj discussed the current state of affairs in bilateral relations.The Indian media claimed that during the meeting the minister asked Pakistan to review its position on Kulbhushan Jadhav, the RAW agent who was sentenced to death by a Pakistani military court earlier this year.

The Indian minister said that for any progress in bilateral relations Pakistan must drop all charges against Jadhav and send him back to India, media reports said.Jadhav’s case is currently being heard by the International Court of Justice which earlier this year stayed his death sentence.

This was Mahmood’s first meeting with a top government official after arriving in India. He is also expected to meet NSA Ajit Doval and foreign secretary S Jaishankar in the coming days.

Earlier on Thursday, Swaraj announced that India would grant medical visas to deserving cases on the auspicious occasion of Diwali including Pakistanis.
