Pakistan Paid Heavy Price For War On Terrorism: PM Abbasi  

Islamabad (April 04, 2018): Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Thursday said that Pakistan has paid a heavy price for its participation in the war against terror and had even lost leader of Benazir Bhutto stature.   

He said that the PML-N government has eliminated the terrorism and had guided the nation on the path of progress and prosperity.

Addressing the final session of the International Anti-terrorism conference held in Islamabad by NACTA, the prime minister said that the country had fought the war against terror on its soil and the world should recognize their efforts.

“Pakistan has given most sacrifices in this war and the leaders like Benazir Bhutto and youth activist Malala Yousafzai were also the victims of this war,” he said.

He said that the Army Public School attack brought a new dimension in this war and the country devised a new and collaborative effort to root out the terrorism from its soil.

“We have eliminated terrorism and now Pakistan has become a lucrative country for investments,” he said adding that the growth rate has reached upto 6 percent in the country.He said that for the first time 1800 Pakistani clerics have given an edict against terrorism and suicide attacks and explained the real meaning of waging armed struggle in the name of Islam (Jihad). “We still have challenges to be dealt with but now it’s time to see towards the half-filled glass rather than half-empty.”

He said that Pakistan wants peace in Afghanistan and its is due to it that the country has started to fence the border between the two countries.

He further said that Indian action in Kashmir is becoming a cause of fuelling terrorism in the region and there is need to determine how the fundamentalism and terrorism is taking its roots in the society.
