LAHORE: Green Shirts suffered dent again following injured all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez who has been dropped in World Cup squad while Nasir Jamshed included as replacement in the national team.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) decided to include Nasir Jamshed in the WC squad replacing injured Hafeez. The left-hand opener set three centuries against India while his last half century was completed since 1.5 years and he sent back to pavillion at duck in last ODI.
Hafeez had failed to clear fitness test in National Academy amongst few other players. On January 6, Hafeez was scheduled for bio-mechanic bowling test but he avoided the attend the bowling test in Brisbane, Australia.
Team management initially said that Hafeez suffered a minor ankle injury but PCB was later informed about the sensitivity of his injury which led Hafeez out of WC squad. Doctors have advised Hafeez for three-day rest.
Nasir Jamshed had played overall 45 ODI matches and scored 1413 runs including three 100s and eight 50s.
PCB had announced three reserve players of WC squad including Shoaib Malik, Sohail Tanvir and Azhar Ali but surprisingly avoided to include Shoaib Malik, who have experience Australian pitches during Big Bash League for last three years. As well as, Malik has capability to play at every position in batting line-up and grabbed more than 100 wickets with off-spin bowling skills.
Moreover, Azhar Ali showed significant batting performance and having league spin bowling skills while travelling preparations have already been completed for the players but the selection committee is apparently making arbitrary decisions by neglecting interests of national team.
