Pakistan thrashes West Indies in 3rd ODI to clinch series

GUYANA: Pakistan beaten West Indies in the 3rd One-day International (ODI) by six wickets with 41 balls remaining at Providence Stadium, Guyana on Tuesday night.

Shoaib Malik’s tremendous performance led Pakistan to win the series. He scored 101 runs with 10 fours and 2 sixes in the match. Malik remained not out in the match. Shoaib Malik was awarded with ‘Man of the Match’ as well as ‘Man of the Series’.

Mohammad Hafeez increased 81 runs in green-shirt’s score. Whereas opener Kamran Akmal went to pavilion on zero. Captain Sarfraz Ahmed scored 24 runs on 26 balls. Pakistan chased the target in 43.1 overs on 4 wickets and won the three-match ODI series against West Indies by 2-1.

Caribbean’s bowler Shannon Gabriel grabbed two wickets. while JO Holder and AR Nurse took one wicket each.

Earlier, West Indies did not set big target as Pakistani bowlers restricted them at 233 in allotted 50 overs. West Indies won the toss and opted to bat first.

West Indies lost early wickets along with slow run rate that paved the way for Pakistani bowlers to dominate Caribbean’s. After losing three wickets at 68 JN Muhammad and SD Hope made resistance and their 101-run fourth wicket partnership alive the hope of WI for big total.

However, after departure of JN Muhammad 59, with  five fours and two sixes WI’s batsmen losing their wickets on regular intervals.  Hope made highest score 71 with two fours and one six but no other batsman add any big share.

Shadad Khan, Junaid Khan and Muhammad Amir took two wicket each. West Indies won the toss and decided to bat first in overcast conditions at the Providence Stadium. Jason Holder has won the toss in all three ODIs, but this is the first time he has opted to set a target.
