Pakistan to Hold First Women Boxing Championship

Karachi (November 30, 2017): Pakistan Boxing Federation has announced the first-ever national boxing championship for women in January next year.

A statement from Pakistan Boxing Federation stated that the first national women boxing championship will be held on the sidelines of the 36th men’s national boxing championship in Lahore.

The announcement will, surely, give a boost to women boxing in Pakistan which is still in its early stages and starving to get recognition.

Three female boxers from Pakistan created history last year when they participated in South Asian Games, the boxers – Khoushleem, Rukhsana and Sofia – were picked through scouting programs by PBF.

The secretary PBF added that Pakistan Boxing Federation is following IOC’s agenda of gender equality and trying to bring women boxing in limelight before 2020.
