NEW DELHI: Pakistani High Commissioner Abdul Basit has met Kashmir’s octogenarian leader, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, to gain his confidence over visit of Indian foreign secretary Subrahmanyam Jaishankar to Pakistan.
The high commissioner held meeting with Hurriyat party leader Syed Ali Geelani at his residence in New Delhi. He brought Geelani into confidence over secretary foreign level dialogues resumed between Pakistan and India.
Both leaders also exchanged views on current political situation of the Indian-held Jammu Kashmir.
Syed Ali Geelani urged both countries to continue meaningful negotiations for resolving Kashmir dispute. He said that no result came forth after more than 150 phases of dialogues so far. Geelani strongly demanded complete withdrawal of Indian military from Jammu Kashmir.
It is noteworthy to mention here that Indian had suspended foreign secretary level dialogues in last August 2014 when Pakistani High Commissioner Abdul Basit had met Hurriyat leaders.
