ISLAMABAD: The US Commerce Secretary has said that the Pakistani tax system is not transparent, questioning that how can the government would bring resources for development in the country if people will not pay tax.
While addressing to an inaugurating session of third Pak-America Business Opportunities Conference, the US Commerce Secretary said that the tax collection ratio in Pakistan is less than 10 % which is the main cause of country’s issue.
The US Commerce Secretary supported ongoing military operation ‘Zarb-e-Azb’ for eradication of terrorism from country and added that US stands with Pakistani Government to eliminate terrorism.
The US Commerce Secretary praised the sacrifices of Pakistani people and forces saying that people of Pakistan gave a lot of sacrifices in the war against terrorism.
The US Commerce Secretary claimed that energy crisis is also a main cause of country’s development, adding that according to report issued by World Bank this sector needs more than $4 billions investment per year.
