Pakistanis Among 102 Illegal Migrants Held in Turkey

Edirne (December 6, 2017): At least 102 undocumented migrants were held by Turkish security forces on Wednesday.

In northwestern Edirne and Kirklareli provinces, 77 undocumented migrants, attempting to cross border into Greece and Bulgaria illegally, were held.

Most of them were Syrian nationals, while some hailed from Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan, security officials told Anadolu Agency on condition of anonymity due to restriction on speaking to the media.

Turkish forces in the southern province of Hatay held 25 migrants, enroute to Istanbul, for carrying fake identity documents.

Also, two alleged human traffickers driving a bus and a car carrying the migrants were detained.

The held migrants were shifted to the migration management authorities.

Turkey has been a main route for refugees trying to cross into Europe, since especially the beginning of the civil war in Syria.
