Pakistanis stranded in Afghanistan allowed to return by showing CNICs

Landi Kotal (May 09, 2017): Afghan authorities on Tuesday allowed Pakistanis stranded in Afghanistan to return to Pakistan by showing their CNICs at the border crossing.

It is to be mentioned here that many Pakistanis have been stranded in the war-torn country following tension at borders after Chaman incident. On Tuesday, Afghan authorities allowed Pakistanis to return back from Landi Kotal border crossing by just showing their Pakistani CNICs.

On the other hands, the tension prevailing at the border areas after Afghan security forces firing in Chaman has started deescalating.  The schools in border villages, which were earlier closed due to the tension, were reopened on Tuesday. However, attendance in the schools remained thin.

The residents of the villages including Keli Luqman, Guldar Baghicha and Keli Jahangir, which were affected by Afghan forces’ firing, are being kept in the temporary shelters. The affected families are being supplied with rations and other items of daily use. However, the exercise of census is still remained suspended in the areas.

It is to be mentioned here that since May 5 when the firing incident occurred Bab-e-Dosti at Chaman remained closed and all trader activities and cross-border vehicular or goods movement remained suspended since then.
