ISLAMABAD: Thousands of members of Pakistan s minority Hindu community gathered in Islamabad on Thursday to stage a protest against the killing of 11 members of a Pakistani Hindu family in Indian city of Jodhpur last month.
According to sources, around eight thousand Hindu community persons led by MNA Dr Ramesh Kumar reached Islamabad from Tharparker, Thatta, Karachi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other parts of the country in a caravan of 150 vehicles.
Sources said that the protesters are currently present at the Constitution Avenue and are determined to stage a sit-in in front of Indian High Commission in Islamabad today (Friday).
According to the organizers of the protest demonstration, arrangements have been made for the protesters to stay in various marquees in the federal capital during the night.
The organizers also said that at least six thousand chairs have been placed at the Diplomatic Avenue for the protesters. Police sources said that the vehicles which transported the protesters to Islamabad have been parked at the Convention Centre.
