Pakistan’s Share in Afghan Trade Plummets to 12pc

Islamabad (November 24, 2017): Pakistan’s share in overall trade of Afghanistan has plummeted to drastic 12pc from 50pc.

The current trade volume stands at merely $1.20 billion whereas—a few years back—it was $2.50 billion. Contrary to that Iran’s trade with Afghanistan has soared to healthy $2.5 bn from just $170 million.

Afghan embassy’s official, on condition of anonymity, told our correspondent that Afghanistan’s traders are disappointed from Pakistan’s policies. Similarly, Iran is facilitating Afghan trade via Chabahar port.

India is also trying to fill the vacuum created by Pakistan’s absence.
